In A Pumpkin-Carving Rut? Read On For New Ideas!

If three triangles and a half-moon cut-out describe your idea of good pumpkin-carving, you may be in a rut! Thanks to top designers like Martha Stewart and endless ideas on the Internet, you are able to find new-and-improved ways to carve your pumpkin right at your fingertips! But before you give up because you think it might be too hard, allow us to show you a couple creative options that even come with templates!

First, let’s get back to the basics. If your skills are bit rusty, Disney FamilyFun gives us 8 tips for designing a classic jack-o-lantern:

1.) Choose a Pumpkin. 2.) Make a Pattern. 3.) Cut Out the Top (or Bottom). 4.) Scrape Out the Inside. 5.) Transfer the Pattern. 6.) Carve. 7.) Experiment with Shading. 8.) Test-Drive Your Pumpkin. For more information on each one of these tips, click here.

Now that you’re ready to go, Cute spiders make for very fun jack-0-lantern greetings! Or maybe your little trick-or-treater is going as a pirate; you can add to the theme with this Pumpkin Pirate design! Here’s a cute one for cats! Or maybe you could do a heart for the one you love.

But if you don’t want to get too crafty this year,  simply carve as you normally would, then stack 3 on top of each other for a fun and eye-catching look like you see here! If time is short, simply add a carrot and you will have a pumpkin with a funny-looking nose like you see here!

As you can see, carving those fun fall doorstep decorations can be as funky or as classic as you wish! The idea is to have some fun and do it with the ones you love!

This year, host a pumpkin-carving party and show off your new skills and decorations. Head on over to Texas Treats and check out our fun Boo Bags which would make great party favors for your guests!

We’d love to see pictures of your new designs…or old ones! Have fun!
