Hard to believe that almost a year ago the Giants were playing the Patriots for the 46th Super Bowl! Perhaps you remember this game fondly as a #1 Giants fan, perhaps you are still unable to think about it, or perhaps you’re the kind of “fan” that still remembers fondly the tasty treats your host offered at the watching party. No matter where you fall, a beloved sports fan or an insatiable party food connoisseur, the big day is coming: Super Bowl Sunday on February 3rd! Super Bowl Sunday is an unusual day for most as diets are put on hold, black paint is smeared under eyelids, and competitive spirits come out of the most unlikely souls (as in, no one sees sweet, fragile Granny the same after Super Bowl Sunday!).
If you are willing to be the hostess with the mostess this year, here are a few tips from the planning experts over at Realsimple.com to insure that no matter who wins or loses the game, your party will surely have been #1!
- Cut coasters out of astroturf. Find materials at your local hardware store.
- Design your own “football field” table runner. Spread out contact chalkboard paper and use chalk to draw in a field. Let your guests strategize their own plays with chalk throughout the party.
- Create a potato bar. Bake frozen potato wedges, serving them warm with a variety of toppings: chopped red onion, salsa, grated Cheddar, jalapeños, and low-fat sour cream.
- Organize a Super Bowl score predicting game. Have each guest predict the final score, write it on a card, and tie it to their drink (think beer stein handle). At the end of the game, let the winner take all the glory!
With nearly 2 weeks left before the big game, there is plenty of time to stock the appetizer table with Texas Treats! Our Authentic Texas Tortilla Chips can be personalized with “Smith’s Super Bowl Party 2013”! Add to it our Salsa Ranchera or Southwest Habanero Salsa and you have the perfect appetizers (and mid-game snacks) for your guests. Pick up a Salute Texas Gift Bag filled with our Tortilla Chips, Salsa Ranchera, Chocolate candy bars, and Texas-sized jelly beans to give to the “final score predictor” for their win!
So much fun to be had and plenty of time to make it happen! As always, have fun putting together this festive occasion; and be sure to have some fun yourself! To you and your favorite sports fans – good luck!
