To those of us who love Texas (and have since the day we were born) it may seem a bit odd that just now some are finally figuring it out! A recent increase of new residents making their way to Texas, particularly from California, makes us think that they must have tasted the “Everything is better in Texas” water or that they’ve come to the important realization that “Life is too short not to live in Texas.” According to this Forbes article, Jobs Aren’t Leaving California for Texas, But People Are, here is the short and sweet list as to why many are moving to Texas.
- Cheaper housing
- More jobs
- Lower taxes
Enough said? We feel this list is highly inconclusive, as it does not say anything about the joy that comes from experiencing rodeos in person, or the excitement that is building with Big Tex’s grand return this fall, or how perfect your family photos will be by simply sitting in bluebonnet fields on the sides of highways. But alas, we can see their point! Either way, we are glad they are coming and we welcome them with gifts bags full of chips and salsa!
If not for economic reasons alone, perhaps Texas is becoming attractive to others because of how much we residents love it here. One blogger lists “10 reasons why Texans love Texas”, some in which include:
- We have options. Ranging from rivers to big cities to deserts.
- Texas is friendly.
- Food in Texas makes your taste buds sing.
- Texas has a lot of history.
- There’s plenty of sunshine.
Now that’s more like it! We enjoy all these parts of Texas and more. But what about you? Why do you love Texas? Have you recently moved to Texas and been able to take in the joy that comes from being here?
Whether your reasons for moving to Texas are for economic reasons or because you simply want better chips and salsa, we assure you that you will not be disappointed!
If you have a friend moving to Texas and you want to help him out, be sure to send him this ahead of time! Speaking Texan is an art-form! But one that can be learned in 30 minutes or less!
