Let’s face it, the cowbell is the most underrated instrument in all of music. Whether you’re playing classical, jazz, blues, rock, rap, or pop music the cowbell is always the first instrument to be overlooked. And yet, the cowbell possesses the ability to keep a steady beat and musical time without every overwhelming the song. The cowbell is easy to carry and produces a consistent sound that anyone can make. Maybe the cowbell is unpopular because it’s associated with a farm animal? We’ll never know.
Take it from the Saturday Night Live video (above) where Christopher Walken is seen producing the Blue Oyster Cult’s famous song Don’t Fear the Reaper. In the clip Will Ferrell’s character plays the unpopular cowbell, when out of the blue [no pun intended] Walken says the famous song could use, “a little more cowbell”. It’s at that point Ferrell unleashes the true potential of the cowbell, which leads Walken’s character to say, “Guess what? I’ve got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell!”
We all need a little more cowbell in our life! Look how free Will Ferrell looks as he’s dancing around the stage playing his cowbell. Well even though you might not be in a famous band like Blue Oyster Cult, you can still own your very own cowbell to play along with any of your favorite songs.
Texas Treats is excited to introduce the Texas Cowbell. This is how Texas cowgirls keep up with their cowboys! When you just have to have “more cowbell” this bell is THE cowbell to own. It has a great pitch for cowbell solo gigs. This metal cowbell includes a Texas Shaped Magnet on the front of the cowbell. Rubber magnet measures 3.75″ x 3.75″ and is 0.25″ thick. Tagline reads “Texas: The Lone Star State” and is colorfully decorated with all sorts of Texas-themed images (such as cowboy boots, an armadillo, bluebonnets, the Alamo, etc.) on a Texas-flag background. Total height of cowbell is 7″ (at the opening, the bell is 4.5″ wide x 2.75″ thick). A nice sound. Wrapped in a clear cellophane gift bag and tied with a Texas Red, White and Blue Bow.
So next time you hear Don’t Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult on the radio unwrap your new Texas Treats Texas Cowbell and jam away like no one is watching.
