One of the great parts of living in Texas is that the winter does not mean lock the doors and stay inside. In fact, at some times we can comfortably have events outside that only call for a light jacket! (outside of a few freak ice storms, of course.) To some, a Texas winter may be lame. Sure, the snowfall is few and far between for the most part. Texans have no idea how to drive on the ice and the slightest sign of ice usually shuts down entire cities. This upsets some people who are used to white Christmases, several feet of snow, and roads actually being open in icy conditions. They are usually very vocal about their opinion, too. However, instead of being upset at the lack of freezing windshields, icy roads, downed power lines, and all that comes with bad winter weather, how about we rejoice in it with a festival.
I introduce to you the Pearland Winterfest! In just over two weeks (Jan. 25), Pearland will host a big party at their recreation center with rides and games for all ages to enjoy some good times together. They even ship in thousands of pounds of snow to let the little ones play in! If you are in the Houston area (or have some time to travel in a couple of weeks) think about stopping by this festival. For South Texans, it might be your only chance to play in the snow this winter!
