You know we love Texas, that much is true! There is so much rich history built into our state, and some of the most interesting fun facts. We are also awful fond of true cowboys. The hats, the boots, the lasso for ropin’, some things you can just count on. Even though trends change and time moves by quickly, a true cowboy remains the same, always displaying loyalty to his horse and moseying around. We loved these fun facts we found, and had to share three of them with you!
Did you know the Texas State Mascot is the Armadillo? Even more, did you know the armadillo always has four babies? Their one egg splits into four, and they either have four males or four females!
Did you know the San Jacinto Monument is the tallest free-standing monument in the world? Yep, it’s even taller than the Washington Monument. Proving once again, everything is bigger in Texas!
Did you know there is a Cowboys Ten Commandments? On the walls of the Cross Trails Church in Farlie, Texas, you’ll see the commandments below posted and followed up with “Lord, keep Your arm around my shoulder and Your hand over my mouth.”
- Just one God.
- Honor yer Ma & Pa.
- No telling tales or gossipin’.
- Git yourself to Sunday meeting.
- Put nothin’ before God.
- No foolin’ around with another fellow’s gal.
- No killin’.
- Watch yer mouth.
- Don’t take what ain’t yers.
- Don’t be hankerin’ for yer buddy’s stuff
Simply put! We hope you enjoyed these fun facts as much as we did! We appreciate all the true cowboys out there, we admire that tallest building standing strong at San Jacinto, and we even admire those armadillo mommas carrying around four babies! We never run of things to be proud of in Texas!
