Here in the Lone Star State we can be a little proud of being from Texas. OK, that’s an understatement. Honestly? We can’t help it! There are so many reasons to love being a Texan and while we are quite partial to our big cities, wide open spaces, and western traditions, we also appreciate just how different and unique people are.
This month is National Bullying Prevention Month and Texas is passionate about eliminating the unnecessary cycle of bullying in our schools. Later this month, several Texas teachers and school administrators will meet to discuss and learn about bullying identification and prevention. If you want to know the laws in place regarding bullying, visit this site.
We don’t tolerate bullies ’round here and we’re not afraid to say it! One of the best ways to help being a part of the solution is by speaking out whenever you see someone else being mistreated by another. While bullying is usually considered a problem within the walls of a grade school or university, there is also the detrimental method of cyber bullying that has lead to the abuse of many adolescents and teens. If you are a parent or close friend to a teenager, it’s important to talk with them about this toxic form of bullying and to be a safe place for them to confide in if they are affected by it. Most bullying occurs because there is no accountability among peers.
We’re tipping our hats to the fine young men and women who are speaking out against such a cruel and costly injustice. If you know someone who has played a part in standing up for those who are bullied, now is the perfect time to show your appreciation for their courage and character. We know that the best people come from the Lone Star State (it’s just a fact, y’all) and would love to play a part in your celebration of such an outstanding citizen! Check out all of our Texas-themed goodies and surprise the young hero in your life with something special.
